Installing a License Key

Top  Previous  Next

Follow these steps to install a license key and activate your ScanExpert subscription:

Double-click on the ScanExpert icon on your desktop to start the program.

Once ScanExpert has loaded, click on the Help option and then select the Enter License Key option from the menu.

Select the Enter License Key option

The License Key input screen will be displayed. Type in your license key or, if it was delivered in electronic format such as an email, you can copy the license key from the email and then paste it into the edit field by first clicking your mouse inside of the edit field and then pressing Ctrl-V on your keyboard. Also, check the Username and Password fields to be sure that they contain the correct values for your particular eSignal account. When ScanExpert is run for the very first time, it extracts the Username/Password information from the eSignal configuration files. However it is possible that this information may be out of date so be sure to check the Username and Password carefully (i.e., make sure the spelling is correct and the case of the letters is correct). The license key is generated based on the eSignal username supplied at the time you subscribed and if they do not match exactly then ScanExpert will remain in Trial Mode.

Once you have entered your license key and confirmed that the Username and Password information is correct, click on the Apply button. The License Key input screen will close and ScanExpert will re-initialize the data connection to activate the key. This may take a few seconds so please be patient. Once the data connection has been re-initialized you will see the ESD online message on the status bar at the bottom-right of the ScanExpert screen.

Enter your license key and click on Apply

To verify that your license has been activated, select the Help/About option from the ScanExpert Viewer menu. You will see information on the About screen regarding whether or not your subscription license is active.

Important: Please keep a copy of your license key in a safe place. If you need to re-install the ScanExpert application or move it to another computer, you will need to re-enter the license key for activation.

ScanExpert only checks the license once the eSignal Data Manager is up and running. This means that if you start ScanExpert while the eSignal Data Manager is not yet running, the license information in the ScanExpert About screen will indicate that ScanExpert is running under a Trial license. Once you launch a scan, however, ScanExpert will start the eSignal Data Manager and check the license status (and update the About screen).
