Sort/Display Options

Auto-Sort Frequency: Use this slider to configure the default grid sort frequency. The range is from 1 to 20 seconds. This only applies if sorting is turned on in the ScanExpert Viewer.

Note: You can also change the current sort frequency from the toolbar at any time.

Decimals: Select the default number of decimals to be displayed in ScanExpert Viewer columns. You can select a number between 0 and 5.

Note: You can override the default decimal display setting on a column-by-column basis in the ScanExpert Viewer at any time. (See Alignment Tab in the Grid Formatting Options section.

Sort Behavior: Select between "Stay with Symbol" and "Stay with Row". These are best explained by example. When ScanExpert Viewer is running and you click on a row in the display grid (each row represents a security) then that row is highlighted. When sorting is turned on in ScanExpert Viewer, it is likely that the rows will move as each timed sort completes. If "Stay with Symbol" is selected then any row (security) that you have selected will remain as the selected row regardless of how the grid is ultimately sorted. If "Stay with Row" is selected then the numerical row that you have selected (row 5, for example) will remain selected during the sort process.

Show Interval In Grid?: Check this option and the bar interval will be displayed to the right of the symbol name in the Symbols column of the grid. Uncheck this option and only the symbol name will be displayed.

Resource Management

Script Process Priority: Set the priority used by the script processing threads in ScanExpert Viewer. Select from "Idle", "Lowest", "Lower", "Normal", "Higher", and "Highest". This field should be left at the default setting of "Lower" unless you are instructed to do otherwise by technical support personnel.

RealTime Process Priority: Set the priority used by the realtime data acquisition threads in ScanExpert Viewer. Select from "Idle", "Lowest", "Lower", "Normal", "Higher", and "Highest". This field should be left at the default setting of "Lower" unless you are instructed to do otherwise by technical support personnel.

Historical Process Priority: Set the priority used by the historical data acquisition threads in ScanExpert Viewer. Select from "Idle", "Lowest", "Lower", "Normal", "Higher", and "Highest". This field should be left at the default setting of "Lower" unless you are instructed to do otherwise by technical support personnel.

Warning: Changing the thread priorities can have significant negative impact on overall system performance so it is recommended that you do not change any of these unless instructed to do so by technical support personnel.

CPU Throttle: Adjusting this setting will increase or decrease the maximum allowable CPU load created by the ScanExpert Viewer application. In most cases the default value of 90% should be more than adequate. CPU load will only be an issue during the initial historical data load. The higher the allowable CPU load, the faster the initial historical data load will occur, but it may have an impact on other programs running on your computer.

Update Priority: Select the desired realtime update priority. Select from "Lowest", "Lower", "Normal", "Higher", and "Highest". The actual speed of updates is dependent upon how many securities you are monitoring as well as the complexity of the script you have loaded. In general, the higher the setting, the higher the cpu utilization and the fewer resources available for other programs running on your computer. Unless you are running ScanExpert sessions on very small baskets of securities, it is recommended that you leave this setting at its default value of Normal. The Update Priority can also be adjusted at any time via the Grid Options menu.
